MG House
Richmond Hill, Ontario
A two-storey, flat-roofed passive house characterized by a minimalist, rectilinear form and a strong emphasis on horizontal lines. The facade features a combination of vertical wood cladding and smooth masonry, creating a contrast between natural and industrial textures. The massing includes a dominant ground-level volume with a recessed entrance and an upper-level volume set back and vertically articulated with slatted wood elements for rhythm and privacy. The front courtyard is semi-enclosed by vertical masonry fins and low walls, creating a defined transitional space between the public street and the private entrance, enlarging the building's presence and creating addition depth to the front facade.
